SAN DIEGO -- Excessive heat warning and advisories are in effect Friday for San Diego's inland valleys and mountains, the National Weather Service said.

To help beat the heat, San Diego County is operating dozens of "Cool Zones." These centers are air-conditioned and can help reduce overall demand on the energy grid.
