RAMONA, Calif. — Lightning struck a pine tree Tuesday night in Ramona, knocking it into a home and causing a nearby palm tree to burst into flames.

It happened shortly after 6 p.m. in the 18000 block of Ramona View Drive, near state Route 78, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

San Diego Gas & Electric officials told FOX 5 the lightning likely prompted a power outage that left 1,260 customers without power in Ramona and Iron Mountain communities.

Power was estimated to be restored by 10:30 p.m. Check for updates on the utility’s outage map.
