SAN DIEGO – Frigid temperatures are expected Monday morning in low-lying portions of the San Diego County inland valleys, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a frost advisory warning of near- to below-freezing temperatures in some low-lying inland locales until 8 a.m. Monday.

The advisory indicates a likelihood of temperatures dropping to the low-30s across local inland-valley communities, including parts of El Cajon, Escondido, La Mesa, Poway, San Marcos and Santee.

The chill will be extreme enough to kill some crops and other sensitive outdoor plants, according to the weather service.
