SAN DIEGO - The first big snow storm of the ski and snowboarding season dropped on Mammoth Mountains overnight.

“We picked up a foot to 2-feet of snow from Tuesday’s storm. It was a great dense, heavy snow that created a great base maker for us,” said Joani Lynch, Director of Communications for Mammoth Mountain Resort. “The storm door is open for Mammoth to receive more snow before the Christmas holiday season wraps up.”

It was snowing lightly Wednesday morning and the area was expecting more to fall for the next day.

Seven lifts and 12 trails were open Wednesday morning with anticipation of more openings by Thursday.

Mammoth Mountain Resorts posts updates on their lifts and trails daily on their website.
