SAN DIEGO — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle early Monday in San Diego’s Skyline neighborhood.
The collision was reported just before 5:45 a.m. at 68th Street and Imperial Avenue.
According to San Diego police, the pedestrian, described as a 77-year-old man, was struck in the westbound No. 2 lane of Imperial Avenue after leaving “a place of safety” before stepping in front of a Ford F-150 truck.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead by medical personnel on scene, SDPD said. His identity has not been disclosed at this time.
As a result of the collision, the Ford truck also appeared to have had some frontend damage. The driver, identified as a 41-year-old man, did not report any injuries.
SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the incident.
