DEL MAR, Calif. — A car fire Wednesday caused heavy traffic on Interstate 5 in North County.

SkyFOX captured fire crews around 5:30 p.m. on northbound I-5, south of Via De La Valle, in the Del Mar area cleaning up the scene after extinguishing the fire. Hundreds of cars could be seen moving very slowly in the northbound lanes.
As of 6:35 p.m., the accident was cleared but stop-and-go traffic remains back to State Route 56, according to Sigalert.
It is unknown at this time how the car caught fire and if there were any injuries.
