SAN DIEGO — A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a wrong-way crash early Monday on state Route 94, authorities said.
The crash was reported shortly after 3:20 a.m. on eastbound SR-94 near Federal Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. A black Nissan Altima was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a silver Volkswagen.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, CHP said. The driver of the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Authorities shut down the right two lanes on eastbound SR-94 for an investigation. All lanes were reopened shortly before 6 a.m.
