SAN DIEGO — Four people were seriously hurt when a Toyota Corolla launched off southbound I-15 and landed in a ditch south of the 805 freeway, authorities said Thursday.

The crash was reported at 5:32 a.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue and California Highway Patrol officials.

SDFD said the four victims got themselves out of the car but were unable to climb up the embankment and toward the road because of their injuries. Their conditions were not immediately released.

A total of 26 SDFD personnel responded to the accident. All traffic lanes were open.
