JAMUL, Calif. — Two drivers were seriously injured Thursday morning in a head-on crash in Jamul.
The collision happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. on state Route 94, just south of Vista Sage Lane, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow. A 20-year-old man from Chula Vista was driving westbound in a 1999 Honda Civic when he crossed into the eastbound lane, Garrow said. The Honda slammed head-on into a 2017 Subaru WRX driven by a 22-year-old man from San Diego.
Both cars involved had severe front end damage. The engine of Honda was ejected from the car by the force of the crash.
Both men sustained serious injuries and were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Garrow said.
Intoxicated driving was not believed to be a factor in the crash, he said.
