DEL MAR, Calif. -- Quinn  and Wyatt Hoffman might be the sons of San Diego Padres legend Trevor Hoffman, but the two Cathedral Catholic High School varsity baseball players say they developed a passion for the game on their own.

"It's always been my passion," said Quinn. " I know that people think it's just because my last name, but I love this sport. I love playing it."

Quinn, a senior shortstop, and Wyatt, a junior second baseman, said there's never been pressure to play the sport. However, they do admit growing up in a household with one of the best Major League Baseball pitchers of all-time has its perks.

"His work ethic," said Quinn. "Being able to grow up and see that. See everyone else in the club houses work ethic really put it in perspective for me what it takes to get to the next level and make it in the big leagues"

This year is the first time both Quinn and Wyatt played on the same baseball team and the boys say it's made for a very special varsity season.
