SAN DIEGO -- On Tuesday, the Sweetwater School District tipped off a series of basketball games at Hilltop High School to unite its students through sports.

The district's "unified sports" campaign brings students with disabilities and non-disabled students together to play on the same team.

In the coming weeks, they will hold two more games featuring four other schools in the district. In February, they plan to add a track and field event and hope to eventually expand participation and create a unified sports league.
