SAN DIEGO – A drone flying around Petco Park during the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday crashed into the stands.

FOX Sports showed video of the rogue drone moving around the Major League Baseball stadium. It eventually crashed next to a man sitting in a seat located in the upper deck.

The game announcers can be heard saying that the drone appeared to be illegally flying in the ballpark.

The Padres recently passed a new set of drone flying regulations to improve safety.

Current restrictions are in place that prohibit flying an aircraft, including drones, around MLB games. The restricted area is from the ground up to 3,000 feet within a three nautical-mile radius of the stadium.

Drone operators who endanger people or property can face a $1,437 fine and federal or local prosecution.

The FAA is investigating.

The Padres defeated the Diamondbacks 5-1.
