SAN FRANCISCO – The See’s Company of San Francisco is recalling one of their popular Valentine’s Day chocolates because of undeclared tree nuts.
The recall affects all of their eight ounce Classic Red Hearts with Assorted Chocolates with bar code 737666091201 and stamped date L.A.N. 048/15. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The chocolates are packaged as eight ounce Red Heart boxes and have been distributed nationwide through See’s retail stores and mail orders. So far no illnesses have been reported.
The recall was ordered after a retail store discovered an incorrectly labeled box mixed in with correctly labeled boxes.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled chocolate and are allergic to tree nuts are urged to return the hearts for a full refund or exchange. Those with questions may contact the company at 1-800-789-7337.
