sdpdSAN DIEGO — Homicide detectives tried to determine Monday what led to a man being fatally shot in the Linda Vista area of San Diego.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2000 block of Drescher Street around 5 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police Lt. Jorge Duran.

Once there, they learned a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound had just been dropped off at a local hospital, the lieutenant said in a statement. The man died a short time later.

“Witnesses at the scene heard the victim say he was shot,” Duran said. “The victim then got into a vehicle and was driven out of the area.”

The man’s name was withheld pending family notification.

Anyone with additional information about the shooting was asked to call SDPD’s Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
