SAN DIEGO – A woman who was leaving a grocery store in Kearny Mesa Sunday afternoon was stabbed by another woman for no apparent reason, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the Food 4 Less store in the 4900 block of Shawline Street at about 1 p.m., where a 35-year-old shopper had been stabbed in the buttocks after she was confronted by a 33-year-old woman, Sgt. Tom Sullivan said.

The suspect was still in the area when officers arrived and was arrested. The victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Sullivan said.

The names of the two women were not released by police.
