Woman stabs man over coughing fit

SAN DIEGO — A man who was coughing too much was stabbed by a woman in a transitional housing apartment complex in the East Village neighborhood Thursday, and police Thursday were looking for the suspect.

According to San Diego police, the woman started arguing with a 48-year-old man over his coughing at about midnight. The woman stabbed the victim in his left arm with a knife and then fled the scene.

Police were called to 32 17th St. at 12:03 a.m., and an ambulance took the man to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officers said.

The attacker was described as a 54-year-old black woman, 5 feet-8 inches tall, 170 pounds with shoulder-length hair in a ponytail. Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
