Woman sexually assaulted in Lemon Grove

LEMON GROVE, Calif. -- Sheriff's deputies were on the lookout Saturday for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in Lemon Grove.

The suspect emerged from an area near a residence in the 3200 block of Massachusetts Avenue near Central Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday and grabbed the victim as she was walking along the roadway, sheriff's Lt. Jeff Duckworth said.

He then dragged her into a dark carport nearby and sexually assaulted her. He told her he had a knife and would hurt her, but he did not show a weapon, the lieutenant said.

The suspect ran off and headed south after the attack. Duckworth said the victim did not see a vehicle.

The victim. who called 911 immediately, described her assailant as black, in his mid-20s, around 5 feet 8 and 145 pounds. He had a short haircut that was clipped to about a quarter-inch and had a small mustache.
