NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Two pedestrians were injured and several parked cars were damaged, when a woman lost control of her vehicle inside a parking structure at Plaza Bonita Mall Saturday, National City Police Lt. Robert Rounds said.

It happened at 3:52 p.m. on the south floor of the parking structure at Plaza Bonita mall, 3030 Plaza Bonita Road.

“A 76-ycrash-graphicear-old woman lost control of her car and crashed into parked cars which caused a chain reaction that damaged at least seven of them,” Rounds said.

Rounds said the woman’s vehicle then veered into the path of two pedestrians, a 62-year-old husband and his 78-year-old wife.

“The husband pushed his wife out of the way,” Rounds said. “He got hit and was thrown up onto the hood of the car and eventually came to rest underneath the vehicle.”

The injured couple were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Rounds said their injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.

Rounds said the woman responsible for the incident also was hospitalized as a health precaution.

No criminal charges were pending.

“The driver of the vehicle was being referred to the DMV for reexamination of her drivers license status,” Rounds said.
