LEMON GROVE, Calif. — A San Diego woman killed in a fiery crash on a freeway offramp was identified Friday.

Cristina Cimmarrusti, 21, apparently lost control of her 2010 Mazda 3 about 2:30 a.m. Thursday on the westbound offramp from state Route 94 to College Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county Medial Examiner’s Office. The car slammed into an embankment, struck a pole and overturned.

Cimmarrusti’s car was traveling more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The wreck sparked a small brush fire near the offramp, but it was extinguished by a passer-by, according to the CHP.

Cimmarrusti was declared dead at a hospital about an hour after the crash, authorities said.
