Woman hit, killed by MTS trolley

LEMON GROVE, Calif. — A woman was hit and killed by a San Diego MTS trolley Wednesday afternoon in Lemon Grove, authorities said.

The deadly crash happened around 3:45 p.m. near Lemon Grove and Massachusetts avenues, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the woman was waiting for a train before the crash. Her body was dragged about 100 yards by an eastbound train, after which she was pronounced dead at the scene.

MTS has closed the Orange Line between the Encanto/62nd and Spring Street stations. The closures are expected to remain in effect until about 7 p.m. A bus bridge is running between the two stations.
