Woman fends off sexual assault at historic mission

Mission Sex Assault SuspectOCEANSIDE, Calif. — Oceanside police Wednesday released a sketch of a man who sexually assaulted a woman on the grounds of Mission San Luis Rey.

The attacker  grabbed the woman at the historic mission on March 18 about 3:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Karen Ortega. She he was in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and weighed 300 pounds.

The man fondled the woman and tried to pull her into some shrubbery, but she fought back and got away, Ortega said.

The suspect was further described as having dark, shoulder-length hair, a big mole on his neck and a tattoo of a snake on the underside of his left forearm. Anyone with more information as to the suspect’s name or whereabouts was asked to call 800-782-7463. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
