SAN DIEGO – A sick traveler was declared Ebola-free on Monday after creating a scare at the Otay Mesa border crossing.

San Diego fire called HAZMAT crews to the border around 10:00 p.m. Monday night. The woman was suffering from flu-like symptoms as she walked across the border bridge. She reportedly had just returned from visiting several countries on the Ebola watch list in West Africa.

The woman was taken to Scripps Chula Vista Medical Center, where it took a medical team about two hours to determine she had the flu.
