VISTA, Calif. — A woman accused of embezzling more than $500,000 over several years from the Escondido concrete business where she worked pleaded not guilty Friday to 51 felony charges, including grand theft.

Sheila Jo Jackson, 46, was ordered held on $500,000 bail. She was arrested Wednesday at her home in Temecula.

Jackson allegedly stole the funds from the coffers of Betz Concrete Inc., where she worked as the business manager.

A bank representative contacted Betz about suspicious activity on the company account, according to police.

The alleged thefts went back to at least 2012, said Deputy District Attorney Anna Winn.

A readiness conference is scheduled Dec. 12 and a preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 14.
