SAN DIEGO – A Coast Guard boat rescued an 81-year-old woman from a cruise ship off the coast of La Jolla after she suffered a possible heart attack.

The crew of the Carnival Imagination contacted the San Diego Coast Guard station Monday at about 9 p.m. and reported that an elderly woman passenger was experiencing symptoms of a possible heart attack. The station sent a 45-foot boat out to the ship, which was about 33 miles west of La Jolla. The crew evacuated the woman, her husband and  a nurse from the cruise ship and brought them back to San Diego.
