RANCHO PENASQUITOS, Calif. -- After three years of competing on the Westview Gymnastics team, Seniors Kristin Carpentier and Angela Zhang were finally given the opportunity to become co-captains of the Wolverines.
Both gymnasts compete in all four events, including the vault, balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercise. With their success, Westview is on track to qualify for CIF for the 5th time.
"Both of them are really good examples of what you would want from a high school gymnast," said head gymnastics coach Diane Wavrik. "Those two are amazing. They are really great role models for all the younger girls coming up."
In pursuit of success, Carpentier and Zhang compete year-round, practicing three hours a day, five times a week. Replacing the co-captains next year won't come easy.
