SAN DIEGO — A driver was briefly trapped in his SUV after crashing into a house in the Talmadge area Thursday morning.

The man had a medical emergency and veered off the road around 7:30 a.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue Capt. Stephen Loughlin said. The house was on Monroe Avenue near 52nd Street.

The driver hit the home and was trapped in his SUV for a short period of time but eventually was able to get out of the wreck. Though the home was badly damaged, no one was inside at the time, Loughlin said. The driver had minor injuries and his young passenger was unhurt.

An engineer was called to examine the building.
