VISTA, Calif. — A 60-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of stabbing his 23-year-old son at a Vista home, authorities said.
Dispatchers received a call around 8:15 p.m. Thursday from a person who reported the stabbing in the 1500 block of South Melrose Drive, San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Cliff Rinder said.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said a man stabbed his son several times after the son battered another member of the family during a gathering.
Deputies responded to the scene, found the son suffering from multiple stab wounds and arrested the father, Rinder said.
The son was taken to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, the lieutenant said.
The father, identified as 60-year-old Paul Voytko, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records. He was being held in lieu of $30,000 pending arraignment, scheduled for Dec. 6.
