NEW YORK – On March 9, 1997, Brooklyn-born rap superstar Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or the Notorious B.I.G, was shot in killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.
Biggie’s murder sent shock waves throughout the music industry and remains unsolved 18 years later. The Bed-Stuy native was just 24 years old.
FOX 5’s affiliated news station PIX11 in New York covered the events following the fatal shooting and posted archive video to their website Monday.
His death came almost 6 months to the day after rival rapper Tupac Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas. Shakur’s murder also remains unsolved.
