Two men arrested during probation compliance check

arrest3CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Two men were arrested at a Chula Vista home where police allegedly found drugs and weapons during a probation compliance check conducted as part of a city-wide operation targeting gang and weapons violations, police said Saturday.

Police made the arrests Friday night in the 1100 block of Industrial Boulevard, after they came across a short-barreled shotgun, five rifles, oxycodone pills and methamphetamine pipes in the workshop at the rear of a manufactured home, according to Chula Vista police.

Police alleged it also appeared the suspect had been manufacturing suppressors for the rifles.

The owner of the property, 63-year-old John Christie, was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons violations, police said.

An acquaintance, 53-year-old Robert Wooster, was arrested on suspicion he was wanted of a misdemeanor drug court violation, police said.

No other arrests were made during the operation, which brought together personnel from the Chula Vista Police Department, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the San Diego County Probation Department and U.S. Border Patrol, police said.
