FALLBROOK, Calif. -- A Marine who lost an arm and both legs in Afghanistan has a new home in Fallbrook.

Sgt. Nick Kimmel was a sergeant in the U.S Marine Corps. He was severely wounded in Afghanistan in 2011.

Tuesday he was given a new "smart home" thanks to Gary Sinese's Foundation. Sinese played "Lt. Dan" in the movie Forest Gump and has helped dozens of veterans.

Kimmel said the new home will help him with his every day tasks.

“Having hard floors and wide-open spaces, I’m not worried about banging my hand and smashing it on a door jam. It’a going to help a lot. It’s going to be a really nice thing.

The home was made possible through the RISE program, which stands for "restoring independence and supporting empowerment."

We welcome home a #woundedhero to his new #smarthome in #California. Smart Home is made possible through the Gary Sinise...
