ALBANY, New York — Nurses and their patients can form special bonds, but this sweet example takes the (wedding) cake.

A 4-year-old leukemia patient in Albany, New York loves one of her nurses so much that she knew she wanted to marry him, KFOR reported.

The staff at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at the Albany Medical Center got together and made that “wedding” happen Thursday.

Following a bridal procession complete with bridesmaids, flowers and even a hospital mask veil, little Abby gave a tiny curtsey as she asked nurse Matt Hickling to marry her.

“Of course, I will marry you!” Hickling said. “Will you take me to be your husband?”

Abby’s hug was an emphatic “yes.”

Nurse Lori Ciafardoni posted the video to WNYT NewsChannel 13’s Facebook page. She said the staff joined generous donors from a local flower to plan the wedding in less than 24 hours.

“This is why we go into nursing,” Ciafardoni said.
