Power restored to thousands in PB, Mission Bay

SAN DIEGO — Overnight power outages left more than 6,000 Pacific Beach and Mission Bay-area homes and businesses in the dark early Friday.

Some type of problem in the electric system caused the first outage to hit around 10:20 p.m. Thursday. Crews expected to have power restored to the 153 affected utility customers before dawn, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

A second and much larger knocked out power to 5,878 customers in the same area around 12:15 a.m., according to SDG&E. Power was restored shortly before 6:30 a.m.

It was not immediately clear whether the outages were weather-related.
