SAN DIEGO – A man waiting for a ride in front of Denny’s in Pacific Beach was assaulted by a couple of robbers early Thursday morning.

Two men approached the 25-year-old man around 1:40 a.m. near the corner of Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said. The victim was robbed of his wallet and suffered a major gash to his forehead, possible from a pistol-whipping.

Police described both robbers as Hispanic. One was about 5-feet, 10-inches with a medium build and was wearing a “large” blue shirt. The other had short hair and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

It was unknown if the victim’s injury required him to be hospitalized.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call 619-531-2200.
