SWAT standoff ends peacefully in North Park

SAN DIEGO – A SWAT standoff lasting more than seven hours ended peacefully after a man surrendered to authorities Saturday in North Park.

Police took the suspect into custody at 6:38 p.m. The man was armed with a hatchet, propane tank and lighter and had been threatening to burn a house down in the 3300 block of 30th Street.

The incident began at 11:05 a.m.
