SAN DIEGO -- An Encanto man was arrested Friday on suspicion of fleeing after the SUV he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian in an intersection near Lindbergh Field.
David Dominguez, 21, was arrested at his home in the 6000 block of Brooklyn Avenue about 7:30 a.m., roughly eight hours after the Little Italy- area traffic fatality took place, according to San Diego police.
Dominguez allegedly failed to stop and sped off after his westbound vehicle struck the 50-year-old pedestrian in a crosswalk at Pacific Highway and West Laurel Street.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of kin, died at the scene, Lt. Scott Bender said.
Dominguez was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of hit and run, vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
He was being held on $100,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
