SAN DIEGO – A nearly 2 hour standoff with police and SWAT ended at a home in City Heights with a shooting suspect in custody Saturday.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the stomach just before 4 p.m. along Wilson Avenue and transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery for his non-life threatening injury.

Evidence at the scene led police to a home on Orange Avenue near 35th Street where the suspected shooter, 30-year-old Daniel “Pauline” Aguilar, was holed up, according to San Diego police Lt. Steve Shaw.

More than a dozen SDPD officers, SWAT and a canine unit surrounded a home until Aguilar and a second man, who had no link to the crime, walked out of the home around 6 p.m., Shaw said.

The motive of the shooting appeared to be domestic violence, the lieutenant said.

Aguilar was being questioned by detectives late Saturday night.
