VISTA, Calif. — A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run involving two vehicles at a Vista intersection.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 600 block of W. Vista Way and Melrose Drive, according to deputies.
The the victim, a 60-year-old man, had been hit by two vehicles, deputies said. He was taken to Palomar Hospital where he later died.

Investigators determined that the first vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a 2015 to 2019 silver Dodge Ram 1500 or 2500 pickup, sheriff’s Sgt. Hernan Gonzalez said, adding that the truck likely has front-end damage.
Investigators were unable to determine an exact description of the second vehicle, which witnesses described only as a silver sedan, sheriff’s Lt. Dave Perkins said.
The intersection at North Melrose Drive and West Vista Way was shutdown while deputies investigated the crash. Traffic was being diverted through a nearby parking lot.
