Sheriff’s deputy unhurt after crash involving patrol SUV

LAKESIDE, Calif. — A San Diego County Sheriff’s Department deputy was involved in a collision Thursday night in Lakeside but was not injured, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. on state Route 67 near Mapleview Street, according to California Highway Patrol.

The deputy was on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a hit and run nearby when they began pursuing a vehicle through the intersection at Mapleview Street and SR-67.

Another vehicle hit the patrol car as it was traveling through the intersection.

Both the deputy and the driver of the other vehicle were evaluated at the crash site by paramedics.

No major injuries occurred in the crash, and the vehicle that the deputy was initially pursuing was not located.
