San Diego - More than 1,500 runners hit the pavement Saturday to raise money for Crimestoppers.

The 30th annual Crimestoppers Light the Night against Crime 5K took place at NTC Park in Liberty Station.

Early estimates put more than $30 thousand raised for the organization that offers cash rewards for anonymous tips leading to criminal arrests.

"We're able to give out monetary funds for those that give tips that makes all of our communities safer and sometimes that's just the incentive that somebody needs," said San Diego Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman.

Crimestoppers has helped solve nearly 6,000 cases since it began.
