LA JOLLA, Calif. — A party at a La Jolla mansion early Friday morning escalated into a shooting, but no one was hit by the gunfire, police said.

Police received a call around 4:30 a.m. from a person who reported hearing gunfire coming from a house on Blackgold Road near La Jolla Farms Road, San Diego Police Sgt. Michael Stirk said.

When officers arrived, several people scattered. Officers found several bullet casings in the street, Sgt. Stirk said.

No arrests were made, but some partygoers were detained for questioning. No injuries were reported.

The multi-million dollar home is listed on Airbnb for nearly $800 a night. Neighbors told FOX 5 that the rental often attracts loud parties.

“A couple of nights ago they had a party at the same residence and made a tremendous amount of noise,” one neighbor said. “It’s really not unusual to have incidents like noise, wild parties, trash.”

Several neighbors said they would prefer to see short-term rentals banned altogether.

“It’s very concerning for those of us who are parents of young kids,” a neighbor said.

“The safety of our community and their neighbors is of the utmost importance to us,” an Airbnb spokesperson wrote in a statement. “The users associated with this reservation have been suspended from our platform as we urgently investigate, and we stand ready to support San Diego PD.”
