DETROIT — The four remaining Republican presidential candidates took the debate stage Thursday night in Detroit, Michigan.

The event took place after front-runner Donald Trump spent the day in a heated exchange of words with the Republican party’s 2012 nominee, Mitt Romney.

Trump was on stage with just three rivals — Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and John Kasich. Ben Carson announced Wednesday that he would not attend the debate in his hometown, as he doesn’t “see a political path forward” in the Republican presidential nomination process.

The debate came two days after Trump dominated Super Tuesday, taking seven victories.
