Anti-Trump protesters march in downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO – More than a hundred people gathered Wednesday night in downtown San Diego to protest the election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.

At 5 p.m., a group of around 40 protesters, gathered on Broadway at Horton Plaza for a "Love Trumps Hate Solidarity" rally.

Around 8 p.m., the group grew as demonstrators started marching near Fifth and Island Avenues in the Gaslamp. Protesters were heard chanting anti-Trump slogans and carrying signs.

Police detained a few protesters. No injuries were reported.

A prayer vigil was also held Wednesday evening at a church in Hillcrest.
