SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Police Department called on the public Sunday to help locate a Linda Vista man who has been missing for eight days.

Clair “Cork” Illig, 62, last spoke to his brother on his cell phone at around 5:40 p.m on Nov. 14. He was last seen earlier that day at around 12 p.m. in his front yard at 2365 Langmuir St. in Linda Vista.

A neighbor told police he saw Illig return home via a taxi, clad in a blue hospital gown.

At 6:40 a.m. on Nov. 16, another neighbor found Illig’s cell phone in the alley east of the missing man’s backyard.

Police said Illig may be confused and may not know his name due to medical issues and a lack of medication, which police said he needs as soon as possible. Police said Illig is not violent, but he may be a danger to himself.

Illig is described as 6 feet tall, around 300 pounds, with sandy brown hair and blue eyes. Police said he is likely to be wearing a T-shirt or polo shirt and sandals.

Police asked anyone with information about Illig to call them at 619-531-2000.
