SAN DIEGO — A man emerged from a Chollas View home with his hands in the air and surrendered to police after a brief search Sunday afternoon.

San Diego Police Department first told FOX 5 about a search for an African American man who fled from police on the 3000 block of Imperial Avenue around 3 p.m. Officers said they recognized the man as having a felony warrant out for his arrest, and set up a perimeter in the area as they searched for the suspect, who was believed to be on foot.

More than an hour later, officers surrounded a home on Aurora Street in the Chollas View area with guns drawn and called for the man to emerge. Eventually, a man fitting the suspect’s description came out of the house and surrendered peacefully to officers, who placed him in handcuffs.
