11 hostages released from Jacksonville, Florida credit union

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Eleven people being held hostage inside a Jacksonville, Florida credit union have been released and a suspect has been taken into custody, police tweeted Thursday morning around 11 a.m. EST.

A robbery occurred at Community First Credit Union Thursday morning, and at least one suspect held several people inside the building for about two hours, according to local authorities.

SWAT and hostage negotiators responded to the scene. It is not clear whether anybody was injured.

A woman walking by the bank reportedly alerted police when she saw people inside the credit union with their hands up.

There are unconfirmed reports that someone called 911 and reported that a person was shot.
