OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Authorities asked the public Monday to keep an eye out for a 76-year-old North County man who went missing last week.
Nickolaos Christidis left his Oceanside home Wednesday, leaving a note stating that he would be returning “late,” according to police. The next morning, Christidis’ ex-wife called him, and he told her he was in Escondido and would be returning home in 15 minutes, Lt. Leonard Cosby said.
About two hours later, his daughter telephoned him, and he told her he was “in the desert” and would be home in an hour. When she tried to contact her father again that afternoon, the call went straight to his voice mail.
The last known sighting of Christidis took place late Wednesday morning near College Boulevard and state Route 78 in Oceanside, according to Cosby.
“His family is concerned for him, as this is very usual behavior for him,” the lieutenant said.
Christidis, a 5-foot-7-inch, roughly 175-pound white man with gray hair and brown eyes, drives a black 2015 Honda Civic, California license number 7JYR793.
Anyone with information about Christidis’ possible whereabouts was asked to call Oceanside police at (760) 435-4911.
