SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Police Department was investigating a suspicious death in the Grant Hill neighborhood on Thursday.

A woman’s partially decomposed body was reported around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday on the 2900 block of Market Street. Officers found it behind an apartment complex in a large canyon area, police said.

Investigators were unable to determine the cause of death due to the decomposition of the body. The circumstances of the death were unclear. The woman’s identity is not yet known.

“Because of the decomposition, officers and investigators were unable to ascertain the decedent’s cause of death and homicide investigators were called to the scene,” San Diego police Lt. Mike Hastings said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
