SAN DIEGO — An unidentified 60-year-old woman’s body was found Tuesday in an Egger Highlands-area field.

The discovery near the intersection of Palm Avenue and Saturn Boulevard was reported at 12:45 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Homicide detectives went to the scene to look for any evidence of criminal involvement, Lt. Scott Wahl said.

Police were responding to a request for a welfare check when they found the body in an encampment behind a commercial complex. She appeared to have sustained blunt force trauma to her upper body.

The woman’s name was not known. An autopsy will be performed by the medical examiner.
