RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. — A search warrant was issued at a Rancho Santa Fe home after a woman found her husband dead under suspicious circumstances Tuesday, authorities said.

A woman found her 71-year-old husband with a wound to his upper body and called authorities just before noon, authorities said.  Homicide detectives were seen at the home in the 17200 block of La Brisa.

“When she returned home from running errands this morning, she found him inside the house deceased,” San Diego County Sheriff’s official told FOX 5.

Six hours after the investigation began, a search warrant was served at the residence.

Neighbors told FOX 5 and county records also confirmed that the house was owned by a man named Leighton Dorey. Detectives could not identify the victim or provide any other information about how he died.

“It’s surprising to come home and see sheriff’s department in your neighborhood,” said neighbor Mamud Habhab, who was standing outside with his son Nader.  “We wish them all of the best. Hopefully, whoever did this will be caught.”
