NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — A brief police chase ended with a crash in the South Bay late Thursday morning.

The pursuit began around 11 a.m. on Sweetwater Road near State Route 54, San Diego Police Department said. The chase ended a short time later when the vehicle crashed near Valley Road.

After the crash, two men leaped out of the SUV and ran into a nearby mobile home park. Officers were close behind and tracked the men down, arresting both.

“I was scared thinking “oh, my god!” Maybe they’re going to hide under my car, my trailer. So I locked my door. One went to the right, the other went to the left — then I saw all the cops come in,” said Wanda Berg, a park resident.

Surveillance video showed one of the suspects running through the park.

Police arrested the men moments later.

Police did not say why they were chasing the men in the first place.
